My name is Rachel Parker, and I am a self taught watercolor artist. I have been painting since December of 2001. Before that, I had dabbled with art, but now I paint every night and on weekends, in addition to my full time job as a middle school counselor.
I work primarily in watercolor because I love the sense of light this medium conveys. In all my paintings, I try to make light the central theme. Dramatic lighting can make a potato sack beautiful. Light is a life-giving force, and this is true in a painting as well – it breathes vitality and a sense of awe into the every day.
Thank you so much for your interest in my work!
